There is a million Walter Reed-named places. One day I was curious enough to google the guy. According to Wikipedia he was a U.S. Army physician who lead a team to confirm the theory that yellow fever was transmitted through mosquitoes rather than through direct contact. The research widely considered a milestone in biomedicine. Intense.
